Thrive Finally Gets Its Taste of Ice Cream Sandwich!

Toshiba Thrive 10 owners will be pleased to know that the OTA for Ice Cream Sandwich is rolling out now. If you don't want to wait for it, you can head into your Settings and download it manually. Keep one thing in mind, if you are rooted you will not be able to update via the service station. Those users may need to wait for the devs to come up with a version for rooted devices.

For all others, check it out and let us know what you think!

Thanks for sharing this info with us rgorby3123!

Updated my Thrive today (I'm in Brazil) .. Really liked ICS ! Performance has increased, and everything has a better look now. Also liked the new camera features and the audio problem I had when making videos are gone! And now I can finally use Chrome in my tablet, and syncronize all bookmarks and everything else with Chrome on my PC.

I woke up this morning to my Thrive giving me a message that there was an update that needed to be downloaded. I had just checked last night to see if there was any news on the ICS update, and saw nothing except a possible update this fall. So the message this morning caught me by suprise. I was SO HAPPY ! I preordered my thrive forever ago, so I had actually started looking at other tablets. Sadly my VAIO laptop got smacked by my little neice, so I spent the new tablet money buying a couple of Toshiba Satellites. Im so glad I did. I really love the Thrive and now its like a new tablet.U also caught the sale at 1saleaday, so I will have a truly new tablet too. I am updating my Thrive right now, as I had wanted to read all through these forums to be sure it wasnt going to be a hassle or a mistake, like the update that made sd cards useless. Thanks for all you guys do to keep those of us who are not so savvy on the electronnics we own, up to date on whats happening. Also for the assistance on those tips that many of us would never know without your help. WHAT A GREAT DAY! Toshiba Thrive 16 GB for 199.99 and ICS update all in one day! WOOHOO !

    Manual update.

I went to settings and check for update, the only one that shows is the one back in november last year.
Does anyone know if I have to take that update first before it will show the ICS update?

If you're in the US, and not rooted (and don't want/need to be), yes.

my thrive is rooted, can i unroot my thrive and then i can install ics? its showing up in service center and im downloading it now. will harm come if i continue or will it simply not work? the main reason i rooted is to use ad hoc netowkring, will ics supportm ad hoc without needing to root?

SS won't update if you're rooted.
You can find a rooted ICS ROM in the Dev area.
    Don't know about ad-hoc...I don't use it.

Is it just me, or...is it the slowest download ever? Hoping for the best...
