My Thrive won't connect to my home WiFi

Hi everyone. I have a 32 GB model and it has recently given me a peculiar problem. I used to be able to connect to my home wifi just fine, however around the time that I got a new WiFi router (NetGear), it has given me this problem. Whenever I try to connect, after I enter the correct server name and password, it constantly says 'Scanning...' on my server name (on the list that shows all the WiFi hotspots you are picking up/have connected to before).

Whenever I enter the 'Wireless & Networks' screen, the WiFi switch (where you can turn it off and on) is scrolling through 3 Phrases in this order:

    Scanning...
    Authenticating...
    Disconnecting...
    Scanning... (repeat)

Or sometimes it will just stay stuck on Scanning..., like it is doing right now.

Does anyone know what is going on? I can connect just fine at school, Starbucks, wherever, but for some reason it is giving me trouble at home. Any ideas?

Does your new Router have MAC Address protection turned on?

Casval, can you connect any other device to your new router that was able to connect to your old router? If you can, I'd suspect that there is a password mismatch. If you cant connect any other device I'd agree with 08kkjeep and verify if mac filtering is enabled.

Re: My Thrive won't connect to my home WiFi

Try removing all security from your router, "forget" the connection in your thrive, then try connecting again unsecured. If it connects you most likely had the wep, or wpa key typed in wrong. It does the exact same thing to me when that happens. Also try changing the broadcast channel on your router. Pick one that isn't being used by your neighbors. You can use wifi analyzer to figure out which ones are open. Hope this helps.

Good question, that would cause what you are seeing.

If not, there are other things we can do to easily get you connected.
So if you need to continue, what is your Model of Netgear router?
Do you have any other PC connected by wifi and working OK with your new router?
Have you changed any router settings?

This is a really trivial question I'm sure, but how do I check to see if I have "MAC Address Protection" turned on?

I have my laptop connected to wifi, and it runs fine. However as of recently, my XBox can't connect for more than a few seconds. I will be connected when I first log on, and then probably 3-5 minutes later I will be disconnected from XBox Live. If I try to watch Netflix off of XBL, the quality is horrible as if it is barely connected at all. This did not used to be the case. My XBL used to work perfectly (I am connected to my router with an ethernet cable with my XBox)

I double checked the password on my Thrive, no luck.

As for the model of my Netgear router, it is a DGN 2200 (N300 Wireless ADSL2+ Modem Router model DGN 2200).

I have tried 'forgetting' the connection and retrying it, nada. I'm trying to figure out how to remove the security from my wireless completely, but this Netgear router page is so confusing. I can only figure out how to change my password, but not remove security completely.
