Mackintosh desktop pictures to SD card..How??

I have a desktop mackintosh and am trying to transfer pictures onto my SD card. Nothing works so far. If you know how I can do this, please give me detailed advice. I see a lot of solutions for those with windows, but don't see too much about those who have Mackintosh...I also have an iphone (sorry if I've offended all of you Android folks...I'm just trying to take a bite out of the apple). I'm not even sure if I need to format the sd card or how to do that.

Thanks....I tried the instructions but my Mac is not recognizing the SD card. My thrive recognizes the SD card. I'm not sure how to move the music over to my card and if I should name a file first on my SD card. Very frustrating!

I figured out the problem. My multiple card reader was not working properly. I put the SD card in a USB card reader and plug it in and 'wa-la', the computer picked it right up. I moved my picture file to the USB card reader with my SD card and it copied all the pictures. Then I put the USB card into my Thrive and all the pictures came out beautifully in gallery! Amazing how hard you work on a simple problem and then find the solution. Thanks for the help and I hope this helps others! Smiles!
