Using Thrive with an external monitor

I am thinking of getting an external monitor with hdmi input to use with our Thrive. Since I don't have one to experiment with I am wondering whether the Thrive provides any choice of output resolutions, in the way that most notebook computers do, or is the output the same resolution as the Thrive's internal display ? My concern is that if the Thrive just sends it's internal display to the hdmi port then on a 21 to 24" monitor the resulting icons and text will be gigantic.

My present computer monitor is 23" and running at 1280 x 1050. Is a setup similar to that available on an external monitor driven by the Thrive ?

Does anyone have a recommendation as to a good choice of hdmi monitor, hopefully under $300 ?

I'll have to test mine again, but I don't remember anything being outrageous when I hooked it to my 32" lcd tv, which I use for a monitor at home. For the price you are willing to pay, you could get you a 26" Dynex TV from Best Buy. I use one for my main monitor at work and I my 32" at home is the same brand. I got it for $299 on sale as well. I would go with the tv/monitor combo if it was me.

Yeah works just fine, I do it all the time. I have a 26 Samsung lcd TV and used it a couple times on the 46 inch Samsung lcd.

Also if you're not in a rush to buy one, wait until November for pre-black Friday sales and official black friday. Best time to buy a TV

Yeah seriously, at least for me this year has been flying by pretty fast.

Also if you want to buy the TV online, hope you're registered with newegg and tiger/compusa for emails. They're both having their end of semptember sales right now. Seeing some pretty good deals

Sounds like end of model year clearance. Out with the old and in with the new.

Pretty much! Best time to buy no reason to get the newest model unless there's significant changes.
