How do I roll back my OS (3.2.x)?

I tried updating my 8GB Toshiba Thrive to ICS. However, after 3.2.x, it doesn't find any further updates. After several calls with Toshiba, my issue was not resolved (they claim that there is no update for my version). I found several reviews on Amazon from people who have ICS on their 8GB Toshiba Thrive.

Regardless, I am stuck now at 3.2.x

I thought I read somewhere that I can't root and install ICS if I have 3.2.x

So is there a way to roll it back to the original O/S?

From a hardware point of view, I think this was one of the best tablets out there with the full hdmi, sd ports, and replaceable battery. Its too bad the service sucks (and I heard the ICS update wasn't any better). Toshiba has lost me as a customer.

Some never got the update, mine still won't see an update to ICS. That aside, if you go ICS you couldn't rot anyways, you had it backwards. HC is the one you want to root on, then you can install a rooted ICS or jellybean ROM.

[Tool] DaleNet Thrive Univeral Easy Flash Tool

You should be able to root your 3.2.x. Here's the tool I used, and it was really quick and easy. In fact, if you can avoid updating to Toshiba's ICS, you may want to consider all the problems people (me included) have had with the official ICS update. Real nightmare. It's been smooth sailing for me since getting OFF Toshiba's ICS and onto the custom ROMs here.

I had read somewhere that there was something missing with 3.2 that wouldn't allow rooting. I just did a quick search and it was fastboot. But after another quick search, I now see that is resolved. So is everyone pretty much happy with the rooted ICS? Can you lead me in the right direction on the most recently successful or most popular way to root (which rom, which rooting tool, etc)? The roms and rooting tools always seem to evolve so quickly and I don't want to end up using an old or dated process or rom.

That's exactly what I am looking for. Rooting tool that is going to work.

    BTW, which rom are using?

Also do you know of a good tutorial/instructional? I have rooted a few nook tablets, but never my toshiba thrive.

The tool mentioned in the above post works perfectly.
The ICS ROM of choice (for me) is the rooted ROM by dalepl.

Thank you so much. I am going to start reading up this weekend.

I assume that rom is this one here:

Pio's JB rom. Nice one. You may have to download load the audio patch found halfway through the thread.

I reckon that Pio's Black bean is the best, its got heaps of enhancements and is real fast. I suggest you also loadup Pio's TWRP backup which you will find in this forum. Then you can try different roms to see which one you like the best. If you load one up you don't like then use Twrp to restore the Rom you do like. I also suggest you invest in Titanium backup as it will make life a lot easier for you to restore all your apps.

    Just my thoughts. Cheers
