Re: Thrive WiFi not turning on after reboot

I wonder if, like Windows, the installation can 'degrade' over time, needing to be refreshed.

Glad that you got it going again....

I don't know for sure. The only thing I can think of is the Dead Finger game changed something. That is the last thing I installed before it quit working.

Sorry about that Oaklands. I guess the only thing good about it is that it's nice to start fresh every once in a while. Still a pain though...

Yep. That's for sure. It's running fast and smooth again. I don't have a lot of apps loaded so it wasn't really a major ordeal, just more of a hassle.

    Hello,
Was there ever a response to this issue?
I have had a 32GB Thrive for 1.5 years, no serious issue until one week ago. I turned on tablet last Saturday evening and I got "Wi-Fi turning on..." constantly.
Saw somewhere someone suggested factory reset, did this, but first step of setup I get the same "Wi-Fi turning on..." message forever.
Anyone else have this same problem? It almost appears to be hardware. If it is going to cost more than a new tablet to get repaired I will not be happy. Can a new Wi-Fi module be purchased (and user replaced)?
Thanks for any help! (btw this is a problem strictly with the tablet and not any wi-fi and/or home networking)
    Dan

The module can be replaced by itself, and is user replaceable depending on the user themselves. For some its easy and takes 20 minutes. Others it may be impossible.

That said usually flashing the system again corrects this, not possible on OTA ICS.

The next option that seems to work (barring hardware issues) is a reflash. If the reset didn't work, you might have to ask dalepl for a reflash of HC, then you can root that and flash a rooted ICS, or just allow the OTA ICS again.
You will lose all data/non-factory apps/media - not unlike a reset.

WiFi module can be purchased on eBay or other sites and is 'fairly' user replaceable.

Thanks for quick answer. Are instructions for flashing system elsewhere on this forum or Toshiba's website? If that is a possible fix, I will try it.

Nope. Never were, never will be.
That's why I said to contact dalepl (via PM), explain the issue, and ask if he'll reflash your Thrive.

As I mentioned earlier a factory reset worked for me.
