malfunctioning tablet

Out of nowhere my keyboard starts typing on its own and not registering my input. It would also input a different letter or function from what I touched. Then it would freeze and the screen would shake rapidly as if I was swiping my finger across it. Eventually the whole tablet would freeze and wouldn't respond to me touching the home icon. I would ether have to put it to sleep or restart it and even then the unlock pattern would not work and I would have to reset it. I have restored the tablet back to it's original form and yet it is still malfunctioning. Can anyone please tell me what is causing this and how do I fix it?

My guess would be that the touch sensor connector has worked loose - all the troubles seem to be screen touch related... If you're brave and reasonably skilled taking these kinds of things apart, you might be able to fix yourself. However, if it's still under warranty (I presume it is) then returning for service might be the safest thing to do.

Thank you, Tom. I will go exchange it for a new one. I was hoping it wasn't something to make me have to that but better safe then sorry before the warrenty is out.

Sounds like a bunch of nuisance problems :(

If you're still within in the exchange period, that would be the best/ideal solution. Make sure to do a factory reset so you can clear out all of your info on it. Also, check if that fixed the problem. I'd be surprised if it did. Sounds more like a hardware related issue.

I just had a similar problem today, except without any of the weird issues about what was being displayed. When I turned on my tablet from sleep, the screen simply wouldn't respond, and so I couldn't unlock the tablet at all. The next time I took it out of the bag I noticed it was restarting (on it's own) and the screen still didn't work. I did a manual restart and the tablet is once again responding to touch input. Does anyone else ever have this, or a similar problem when you unlock the tablet, the bottom bar (touching the time or notifications) won't react for maybe 10 seconds or so? Thanks :)

Sounds like you have some app running that is taking CPU cycles. What kind of apps have you loaded? What ROM build are you on? Are you rooted?

I have a fair number of games (many I have only played once or twice), some social apps such as Facebook, all the stock apps as I am not rooted, many Google apps. Netflix (but I don't use it), and other random ones. My ROM is the 3.2.1, HK55D.31.5.0002

Today was the first time this has happened, and I didn't do anything today I haven't done on many other days.

Are you using the stock keyboard? Maybe try a difference keyboard.there are some free ones.just to see if the problem goes away.I don't know if you can uninstall the stock and reinstall it.maybe someone else might know.hope this helps.

I am using the stock keyboard, but would that really affect the system bar upon unlocking?
