HDMI aspect ratio / resolution change

I recently purchased a TT doc with the HDMI output. I hooked it up to my 50" Panisonic today and was impressed with this option. With one exception, I lost what seemed to be about an inch all the way around. which means I lose my back and home buttons in the bottum left of my screen along with my tab on the upper left when in the browser. I changed the aspect ratio on the TV but it didnt help, the edges are cut off in every aspect ratio the TV has . It also didn't help to plug it directly into the tablet. Of course I dont loose anything on the tablet screen but with it in the docking station I use my bluetooth keyboard to control everything while looking at the TV. Does anyone know how to fix this? Is there a setting on the tablet i should change or an app I should get? My Thrive is not rooted but suppose i can if it makes some option to fix this available.

Nope, that's just the way these tablets display on TV's

It's because of the ratio. I have a 69" LG TV that does the same. But the TV doesn't display in 16x10. On my Samsung 42" it displays perfectly.
