Thanks for the tips ! I have no idea what the ROM manager is, but would stay away from anything that I don't understand! ~ Franny

Well, it's supposed to be a quick and easy way to load various ROMs, but I do not believe it works with any of the ROMs currently available for the Thrive, at least not the ones here. Technically, I guess it runs on the Thrive, but I don't know what use it is and I know it can let folks get into trouble using the recovery and partitioning tools like they do on their phones.
    Cheers, Dave

Hello, NOOB question. How does trying to format something that is removable-the SD card, brick the tablet?
    Thanks!

    1) On tablets the internal memory is mounted as sdcard (and it is not removable).

    2) On phones sdcard is typically removable memory

    3) Using an app that "thinks" the sdcard is removable and formatting such on a tablet, it would wipe out the partitions used by the tablet for OS and other internal needed stuff --- thus bricking the device.

just an update- rom manager is compatible with thrive but is useless now - can't install cwm but it can recognize you have cwm already- but Ics cannot reboot to recovery so you have to do it the long way and the format SD card problem is still active afaik

Dale, another thing to add to the list:

If the SD card becomes corrupted, do NOT use Android to reformat the SD card. I got lucky, and it only nuked internal SD.

Main problem is that mkfs.vfat cannot handle cards bigger than 32GB. 64GB card in my slot...

For once, somebody explained WHY such an option exists inside CWM, and yes, we all read not to do it.
    THANK YOU !!!
