    AT105 slow since update

    good morning!

My tablet has become painfully slowly and unusable sometimes - especially when it updates apps. I think it started with the Toshiba update I installed lately. By now I am not root and I did nothing fancy.

Is this a known problem? Can this be solved by rooting and installing a custom ROM. I wonder if this would be complicated or risky to do?

I am grateful for any advice on this - by now it is rather impossible to use the tablet

    thanks

    Dirk

Could be that the memory is getting full.

A factory reset might help by getting rid of stuff that's seldom used or needed. It might be all that's needed.

Rooting is no more difficult than following the instructions here:
[Tool] DaleNet Thrive Univeral Easy Flash Tool
Just be sure that your build is listed.

You can leave things as they are or install dalepl's Rooted ICS:
[ROM] DaleNet IMM76D.01.000072314 Deodexed Stock Rooted ROM (US ICS 4.0.4)
    Again, following the instructions given.

You can also try the ROMs in Pio_masaki's area.

Read, study, and feel free to ask questions....

The stock ICS update is known to be slow. This has usually pushed people into going ahead and rooting the device and trying a custom ROM. As Danvee mentioned, dalepl has a rooted ICS version that runs quite well. I used it for a while and then jumped over to one of PIO's jellybean roms.
Happy Thrive user running CM10 Jellybean.
