    XDA Forums Suck :)

Not to bash the XDA forums, but I was reading up on my SII (AT&T) and all of questions that were not on the actual development thread mentioned where trashed and put down. Plus the original questions were never answered. Its a problem I knew about, but just forgot how bad it was. Just made me realize how much I appreciate this site and you all out there that are so helpful .

    THANKS ALL!!

Yeah, this forum is so much better and organized than XDA. I rarely post there. They are good to get links for roms and dev info for your device but as far as a professionally run forum, it blows.

Kind of stands to reason. Isn't XDA a developer's forum?

Remember, the TT is under "legacy devices" (or some such) there.

It is for developers but greedy rom flashaholics like myself are allowed to join the forum and get info on roms/development. They do have other parts of the forum for general help, accessories, apps, etc like most other android forums but there is so much political stuff going on, it becomes a mess after a while. I just go in and get what I need and don't bother to stick around for long. I'd rather "hang out" here.

They were, and are, invaluable when it comes to modding my NookColor, but, you're right in that they can get VERY snobbish and testy with newbies..

Had been like that for a long time.
On 2007, 2008 dare to ask anything for a Samsung Windows Mobile phone on HTCland (XDA) and you were toast.
The flames go on and on filling more than a page until finally the thread was closed.

Remember a thread from a very active and respected ROM developer, on the OP calling for reason and understanding for the Samsung guys,
and he was not flamed because who he was.
While his ROM threads were on the hundreds of pages and tons of posts all the time, this one was ignored only got a few positive responses, including mine.

    MS spirit...

yep, this is what they started as originally a forum of developers for Windows Mobiles PDAs...

their move to other platforms was maybe out of survival and necessity as a forum...

I think they reflect well the Microsoft mood, which is snobbish and insular (maybe that is why MS got late in every single sector of the computer industry - inclusive of the Internet/Web phenomenon-, and owe their success to copying what others did, and then marketing it better, cf MS vs Apple vs Lotus vs Sun vs Netscape, etc.)

but they (XDA) indeed fail somewhat in the spirit of opensource and free software,
plus they got their fingers burnt by several MS injunctions against them, which even if not followed through (MS benefits from the free publicity anyhow), created a spirit of bitterness acting out on newbies as intolerance and impatience...

    the end lol!
