They say Toshiba may be backing away form ICS for Thrive, yet provide nothing to show that other than their word. Just trying to stir stuff up.

Found on site now, an addendum:

Update: Representatives for Toshiba have re-confirmed to PhoneNews.com that both Thrive models will be upgraded to Android 4.0. The manufacturer does not have a timeline for the upgrade, only assuring that the updates for seven and ten-inch Thrives will be completed before the end of the year. Toshiba stressed that users would in all likelihood not have to wait until the end of the year to be updated, however.

Seems that somebody is paying attention.

So the update gives hope, but a longer wait period than the previous mentioned "end of spring" release.

Or not. They're really hedging at this point.

I just got an update for my xperia play phone, however I have not done it yet. The update has caused more problems than it is worth and people have found the easiest ways to downgrade to something stable. I hope that this means Toshiba is going to release something stable. If not I wait for the forum to have loads of threads of people that jumped on the upgrade and are complaining about all the faults...

My guess is it will come out after the release date of the Excite. The word has always been late June/late Spring, correct?

Artices like that make true professional journalists cringe. (And coming from a "founding editor" yet) Saying Toshiba may be backing away from their promise to update Thrive to ICS, based solely on the fact that he couldn't get a "reaffirmation" of what had already been confirmed! Then in the "update" he claims to have gotten that reaffirmation, from unnamed "representatives" for Toshiba. Ugh

When the ICS actually comes out for Thrive, do I have the choice not to upgrade it and how to do that?

I don't have the desire for ICS. I had an ASUS transfomer. It used to be a very nice tablet before the ICS upgrade. But after the ICS upgrade, the tablet suffered all kinds of issues from random rebooting to overheating and it basically became a useless crap.
