    Is there a 'Trash' folder?

Is there any way to recover files deleted from the built-in file manager?

Android doesn't have a Trash folder, Typically deleted items are well... deleted.

HOWEVER, depending on where they were deleted you might have options to recover. So say you deleted a file off the SD card, or USB as it was attached to the thrive you can still run recovery software on it by moving that SD/USB to the PC.

If it was deleted on the thrive itself I'll let someone else more knowledgeable than myself answer that one. To be on the safe side stop using the Thrive/installing/deleting/moving files/making any changes at all.... when dealing with file recovery it helps if the files aren't overwritten.

I deleated some picture filles off of my external SD card using file management. I then took the card and put it into my windows (vista) computer and recovered the files using a freeware program. This worked and I did not have to root my Thrive. I have the program at home and may have the name later if you are intrested.

Most likely Recuva by Piriform. I've used it multiple times in the past on desktop and laptop hard drives. Its the same company that makes CCleaner and Defraggler for registry cleaning/defragging. I was going to mention it for the external card but wasn't sure if the Op needed something off the thrive storage.
