I just finished a 3 day cross-country using the "Aviation Maps" APP and have decided that it works very well. It consists of a database of maps (sectionals, low and hi alt inroute) and charts (instrument approach plates, terminal area charts) and Airport data.
1 The internal GPS works fairly well. While in motion at altitude I had to occasionally place it on the glare shield to get a new position lock.
2 You can download weather (while on the ground) and overlay it with your route.
3 The airport databases show runways and show the angle of your approach to each runway.
4 Waypoints can be easily created and added to your flight plan by touching the screen.
5 Flightplans can easily be created, edited and deleted.
6 Subscription is about $5/mo
7 Touching an airport symbol on the sectional brings up data on the airport including bearing, distance and time (while inroute)
Still exploring but it looks much better than Naviator.
