Need help setting up my thrive for smb

I have tried ghost commander, Astro, and file expert (all with the smb plugins) and have not been able to get any of them to work.

    Here is the situation :

-I have network storage on my netgear router
    -500gb NTFS formatted drive
-It uses smb (Have been using with computer for a while so issue not with drive or router)
-The smb storage has no user name or password set
-My thrive is rooted and running the DaleNet Stock Rooted 0032 ROM

I guess what i need is a walk-through setting this up because even when it does connect it says invalid user name/ password or invalid domain. (I am entering //readyshare as domain). I am lost any help or instructions would be great. Even just clarifying what belongs in each feild would help.

    Thanks

Thrive can't read any NTFS drives. You need to format to ExFat or Fat32. That hopefully will resolve your problem.

Not really true. He is trying to read it as a nerwork share. The NTFS should not make a difference. I access my work and home network shares all the time on my thrive. Also if you use an app called USB mass storage, you can mount NTFS drives. I have a 1Tb drive formatted NTFS I use with my thrive.

Does The router assign any kind of IP address for the drive or does it use the routers address? Also try using \\ instead of // to access it. I have-not used a driveshare off a router but it should follow standard logic.

Domain should not be necessary. Try to go with the ip. I use file manager hd, really good program with smb support.

If you cannot fix it i can take a look next week and setup readyshare on my netgear.

I am using ES File Explorer and am able to browse my smb shares on multiple computers fine. Some run win7 (NTFS) and some are various forms of Linux (ext3 or xfs) and all work perfectly. In ES File Explorer you can auto scan for smb shares or can manually add them. For my shares I set up the server as //{system name}/{share name} and put in my username and password and it works perfectly.

Thanks for the help, but it turns out that rapidshare on netgear routers wont work with any program ( I tried them all). You have to buy their app ( https://market.android.com/details?i...=search_result ) and it says it supports the wndr 3800, and says nothing about the wndr 3400 that i have.
If anyone knows or can figure out if it will work for the wndr 3400, and if it will allow streaming of video files I would appreciate it. I dont want to fork over cash for something that will not do what i want.

    Thanks,

    Ph1Davies
