    XBMC for Android

    Sweet lord!!

    Having a full-featured portable home media center accessible anywhere on the planet is unbelieveble. I'm not one to normally post on upcoming pie-in-the-sky promises, but from what the initial testing videos and user reports are saying--this is gonna be a real monster. Although it's in its infancy stages, I cannot wait for this.

    Are there any Thrive devs ready to slam this thing into gear?
    TOSHIBA Thrive - {DaleNet IMM76D.01.000072314 Deodexed Stock Rooted ROM - ICS 4.0.4}
    LG Optimus Elite - Virgin Mobile
    Samsung Vitality - Cricket {DEAD} - Huawei Ideos U8150 (T-Mobile Comet) {DEAD}

    I don't use it.
    There is already a working version compatible with the Thrive. Go here: XBMC For Android Nightlies - xda-developers Be sure to grab the non-neon version. There was trouble with the touch screen but the latest version works pretty well. Not everything will play well as there is no hardware support yet, but it's functional. I was actually planning to post about this now that the touch issue is resolved.
    Check out my custom ROM: Favum ICS Version 2.0
    If you're feeling generous, I'm taking

    no, mr. steve, this ain't just another media player. xbmc is like root for all entertainment. It's being able to hack your CD/DVD/video player, add a ton of free primetime cable content and create your own plugins should you be so inclined (and gifted).

    using it on a home PC is exquisite, and being able to run it safely on an Android tablet is world domination.

    sorry for stealing your thunder, I'm really excited to see the integration of the plugin repos and how well they integrate on the platform (both stock and rooted).

    as for the nightlies, I'm definitely going to wait for an official release as I'm not about to try compiling it within a Linux CM in windows.

    No worries, I just want to share it, now that it's working better. Yes, it's still fairly buggy, but it works decently. For those that don't know about it. XBMC is a tremendously versatile media center that is available on many platforms. I use it as my home theater system and run it on an older nettop (Acer Revo 1600) to stream movies, tv, and music to my projector. Also, I can access it on any device in the home. If you're a movie buff, it's well worth looking into. There is also support for PVR setups, although I've not attempted it.
