I've been messing with XBMC a lot over the last week or two, trying to figure out what all the hype is about. I haven't tried it on my Thrive yet, but I've been running it on my Raspberry Pi ($35 mini computer) using the Raspbmc distribution. Everyone's talking about exciting new tech, so I didn't want to leave this out of the mix! I also took an extra slim PC that I had laying around, and loaded it up with XBMC for Windows, so that it can handle netflix streaming as well. I will definitely have to check out freecable, I hadn't heard of it before now!
Also I want to check out this set of scripts that are for one click ripping of your dvd collection.

Could not find 'freecable' under VIDEOS/Add-Ons? Do you have to establish an account first? It seems like XMBC bombs out after 5 minutes or so.

I tend to think of it as my own personal DVR that collects almost every show I wanna see without having to set it. it works like an instant TV guide.

asctony: to the best of my knowlege, (and guys, please correct me if I'm wrong) you have to manually download the plugin's zip file to your thrive, then install from xbmc's menu. that's at least how it works on pc.

That's what I didn't do. I tried to download from the app directly. Thanks! Will try that.

this is a bit unrelated, but I just got the xbmc remote app for android, it it works like a champ! so impressed with the outcome as I have a roku box and the remote app for that pretty much blows. turning the device sideways will give a bunch more options too.
    sweet deal.
