Nope, I thought after all the posts and PMs about CM10 for the baby thrive there would be a lot more interest then...well none

    Maybe this will entice more:

Rollback for 7" also available for testing!

Well I figured I'd necro this, thanks to ttmoo I've had a 7" here for awhile to play with, nothing spectacular has come of it being here aside from my dislike of Toshiba and their handling of source, they provided me with broken source so I still can't build a working kernel for this device.

However, I have been exploring in other directions also, for one, I now can port 10" HC ROMs to the 7" Thrive, I have done it with Favum HC already. I still can't piece together a working ICS, the files I have are from a 10" dump and piecing it together with the HC>ICS update is a near impossible task as its all run through patches, not just a simple file replacement.

So I'll put my next request here, I need an ICS system dump.

A short rundown of what this entails:

A stock ICS 7" thrive that is in booting, working order.
A mini usb cable to hook up the thrive to the pc
Working ADB drivers for the device (windows) or working adb binaries setup (linux)
A few minutes to type a couple commands into a terminal and the patience to let them run.

    adb shell dd if="/dev/block/mmcblk0p2" of="/sdcard/boot.img"
    adb pull /sdcard/boot.img
    adb pull /system

The /system will take a few minutes to complete.

    Each step does:
Copies the boot.img from the device to your INTERNAL SD, I do it there as external may be read only in ICS, I don't recall right off hand.
Copies the newly extracted boot.img from your device to the folder your terminal is in.
Copies the entire /system directory from the device to the folder your terminal is in.

Place it all into a zip of some sort, slap it on a dropbox or something, and let me grab it, after that I can probably piece together a working rooted ICS. And likely a working ICS root for those already on ICS.

Zero risk to any user doing this, it touches nothing in your system aside from using space for the boot.img. Zero risk of it including anything personal or confidential, this is pulling only from non writable sections of the device, nothing of yours is there, that's all in a different section of the device (/data, /sdcard, /sdcard2, etc)

Any further information or clarification needed just ask.

Edit: I can probably just send a script to do the commands for you.

Note: one can write to external card if it's an SDXC card. I will try to carve some time to pull this layer today. I'll check back before I do in case someone else didn't beat me to if.
Found my signature file, but it appears to be empty...

Tried, but am getting "permission denied". Looks like we need temp root.

Permission denied dumping boot or /system?

The exploit for the 10" ICS should also work on the 7" for gaining temp root, it really just needs shell root since that's where we're playing. Let me see what I can see, it's been so long I'll need to refresh on what we came up with originally and what we need for the 7" version. I'll probably PM you since what I'll be sending shouldn't be just tossed into any terminal for fun lol. I think we did the restore thing to gain a temp root and then moved the block device for /system to another address so sealime.ko kept protecting the wrong device and we could plant su and busybox on /system. At this point we would stop on the 7" and /system access would return to normal. That may work, just no bootloader modding so no kernel/recovery changes, but root itself may be possible.

I think the 10" bootloader can actually be loaded on the 7" but it still doesn't show fastboot, so I'm not sure if it really did flash it or not (don't ask).

Ugh its midnight and now I have a bunch I want to figure out lol.

    edit
Ok whipped up two bat files, one aims to dump what I need, the other aims to root 7" ICS. I'll shoot you a PM soon with a link.

    edit again
I don't suppose adb root and adb remount did any good? I doubt it being non rooted...anyways PM going out with a little fun package.

I just want to confirm to all that even after rooting there is no fastboot - i.e. only 2 icons will show. Paul confirmed in discussion in posts 27-31 here:
    Can 7inch HTK55D.31.5.0005 be rooted?
'cause he had no baby thrive bootloader.
