Another Issue with New Excite AT305 - No Sound from Speakers

    Well, batting 1000 here...

Just noticed that my brand new Excite AT305 has no sound from the speakers. No matter what volume level I set it to via the rocker switches.

Plug in some headphones, and I get sound from them.

Any ideas? Or just send it back as defective for a replacement?

Turn it all the way down to mute, then bring it back up. Don't have headphones or anything plugged in, that's a separate control.

Tried that several times. Just did a factory reset. Still nada. I can go into settings and then Sound, and then Volumes, and I can hear the "Alarm" test (when you mess with the slider) from the speakers, but the other two (Notifications and Music, Video, Games, & Other Media) make no sound at all. Tried YouTube, Pandora, etc... No sound from speakers. Plug in a headset, and it works fine.

Very annoying. I know the speakers work, because I heard the alarm sound (as I said above). Just *nothing* else makes a peep outta them.

Just noticed that the model number I ordered from Amazon doesn't match what the tablet says. The one I ordered was "AT305T32". What the tablet says (in settings) is AT300. Is this normal?

Something else I just discovered. In the sound settings, if I have the top volume control (games, music, etc.) not maxxed out, and I mess with the alarm volume, then go back to the top one (game, music, etc.) and click it one higher, it makes a very brief "static" sound and then goes silent again. What the heck is going on?

There's a kind of sub model type, the thrive has AT100 and AT105 for example. The T32 maybe refers to the CPU type, the tegra3 is called T30 and the 2 part likely denotes yet another version of maybe the tegra3, or a capacity or any number of things. It all falls under the general heading of AT300

Ah, ok. Perhaps the "T32" part refers to it having 32gig of drive space? Dunno...

Any other thoughts on the speakers?

The T32 is the 32GB . The T16 is 16GB. The AT305 is "technically" a newer tablet than the AT300. with the sound issues I would contact Amazon about a swap or refund.

Decided to just send it back to Amazon for a refund. For just a little bit more, I can get the Toshiba Excite Pro which comes out in a couple of days.
