Excite 10 Apps cannot see external SD card - help a noobie out please :(

I'm sorry if this has been discussed - yes I did do a search in Excite forums.

Long story short - apps cannot see the "external 32gb SD card" (except TOSHIBA FILE EXPLORER).
Many apps can reference "SDCARD" but the physical location of this "SDCARD" is on the device.

It'd be really handy to use bittorrent etc. to write to external card.

I have an inkling it has something to do with SDcard mount settings...modifying a file...SDcard1 vs. sdcard2 but I'd rather ask for help than go in blind.

Thank you in advance, I appreciate your help.

Most of the stock apps cannot access or save to the external SDcard. The internal memory is mounted as SDcard and that is what they default to. The external SDcard is mounted as SDcard2. Your best bet is to find alternate apps to do what you want. Like for instance QuickPic is a great alternative to the Google Gallery.

    lWhat if...(famous last words...)

    1. I copy everything from \sdcard into \sdcard2

    2. I rename each and swap names

    Do I win or lose?

This is by Google design, sadly.

Most apps rely on Android telling the primary storage location.

By default that goes to the internal storage.

It would have been simple for them to put in an additional way to ask for secondary locations, but they did not.

Instead they have, in recent version of Android, designated external storage as primarily one of video and audio media storage. And apps dealing with that is expected to go via the Android media storage database, not directly to the filesystem.
