Is it possible to take legal action against toshiba? To either unlock the bootloader or refund us for our tablets?

Probably not. I'm sure they don't care about the scene. Anyway, it's been great but I just got rid of mine. Moving on to a more developer friendly tablet. Toshiba will never get another cent of my money for any of their products. Not that they care. Lol

Anything for the AT300 (or is the AT300 the same as AT305? excuse my ignorance)

New Backup Tool Available, Is This Useful?

Without root access, whether you want an AOSP ROM built from scratch, a Cyanogen port, or a fancypants ROM with some variant of HTC Sense on it is irrelevant, because there's no means of successfully flashing your tablet with it.

The general progression of things that are needed is this:

    1. Unlocked bootloader
    2. Permanent root access
    3. Recovery environment
    4. Source ROM
    5. Derivative ROMs

We're still stuck on step 1 for the moment.

I am not a developer, but noticed this post on XDA: Ultimate Backup Tool, No Root Required

Since this doesn't require root, could it help us?

It's handy as a backup utility, so if you need to back up your phone, it's helpful. However, the tool only backs up the /data and /sdcard partitions. Hence, it doesn't touch any of the lower level hardware that prevents us from getting root.

And other vendors with locked boot loader. Toshiba is not alone.
