Is it possible to take legal action against toshiba? To either unlock the bootloader or refund us for our tablets?

Probably not. I'm sure they don't care about the scene. Anyway, it's been great but I just got rid of mine. Moving on to a more developer friendly tablet. Toshiba will never get another cent of my money for any of their products. Not that they care. Lol

I am not a developer, but noticed this post on XDA: Ultimate Backup Tool, No Root Required
Since this doesn't require root, could it help us?
Im sorry to see no progress, I check in once in awile to see if I can take my excite out of the drawer. 500.00 is a lot to throw away.
Again SCREW YOU TOSHIBA.

ROOFERS ARE ALWAYS ON TOP
well said by RooferDave
Toshiba Excite (waiting 4 root)
Toshiba Thrive
HTC Evo
HTC Hero (Got it all started)
B&N Nook (still the Best)
Samsung Moment
Samsung Galaxy3
Ausu Transformer Pad Infinity 700T/ with the "esc" and "f-kless" mobile dock
And other vendors with locked boot loader. Toshiba is not alone.
Found my signature file, but it appears to be empty...
