The left volume button. I may have it confused with the iconia, it changes on rotation so portrait they have that as volume up but landscape its volume down. The left button by power.

The SDK has fast boot, however you should have it with the tools provided to root and unlock the thrive, you can just copy in the twrp image there and run fast boot from that folder.

I can also whip up an installation package however I was waiting until twrp was more or less final.

OK how about a flash able then? I can make a recovery flash able twrp and cwm so its easily switchable as I know some backups will be wanted from cwm. So flash cwm, restore the backup wanted, flash twrp, make twrp backup.

Also skips fast boot and no PC needed.

wow you can do that ? holy cow ! lol - idk, i mean my backups rite now are cwm of course - and honostly i didnt plan on switching to TWRP untill after i flash CM10 which will be either when the unified build comes out or your next build is available ( i like your ram graph tweaks) - then again it seems like it makes more sense to get TWRP, make a new backup, then flash cm10 -

I have new computer, Thrive was already rooted, but the PC is not setup to use fastboot. I have searched hi and low but can't seem to find the old posts on how to install the SDK package that contains fastboot. I have the ADB drivers installed and the PC can see the Thrive. I know I am missing something. Anyone have a quick link to the posts that instruct how to install Fastoot on the PC?

Edit: I guess I will wait for the flashable.....didn't see the last few posts before writing this.

Edit 2: Found fastboot in the Easy Flash Root tools of dalepl. flashed the twrp image and hey, this is great! Anywhere to find a user manual....over at xda maybe??

You can get them with the very epic rooting tool by dalepl, it is supplied in his package. It's the method probably 99% of users use to root and unlock their thrives.

@remotehugger: yes recovery is loaded from the recovery partition into memory, and is then run from memory with no further access to the recovery partition, meaning once it's loaded, you can do anything and not interfere with it running. So you can use recovery to flash recovery. In this case I'll probably use dd to image recovery to it, so something like:
    dd if=/twrp-thrive.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p1

I suppose I could do it with cat, but it seems unreliable with images and is better suited to blobs.

Lawl if I can have one person own an iPad owner it was worth the time. OK not really lol don't want to start a debate on it.

Side note, I'm likely going to look for an iPad in a bit for my son. Something that if he blows it up, meh. My wife will likely steal it, as she does with all my toys she sees no reason for me to buy yet can't live without later...
