Decided to try one of pios JB roms and now my sd card is not mounting. Just wondering and i appologize if it has been addressed before, are we capable of using 128 gig sd cards in the Pios JB roms? Im not using the card to flash just for storage to play movies from. Thanks this forum is a blessing for us trying to get the most out of our old geezer thrives
128GB should work fine, its the format that doesn't always work, it has to be fat32, not exfat and NTFS is hit or miss. Its a kernel issue I never resolved (well I did but only half of what was needed).

Reading has definitely been going on. I've even downloaded the suggested version of Superuser for CWM flashing just in case that doesn't show up properly and the recommended SD Formatter to cover bases. Looked to be the common issues I have seen referenced through several hundred pages of threads.

Just glad I never installed Win 8 :P

Thanks for this site. I'd be posting this from my thrive but it won't allow mw to type in this area of the quick reply section. (yet another issue to deal with)
I'm here to learn how to upgrade from 3.2.1 to ICS. hopefully 4.2. I've been involved with all things computers since 286 processors were
    all the rage.

If this is in the browser, go into the forum My Account - General Settings and "dumb down" the Message Editor Interface to Standard Editor.

    Hello All,
I found this forum when reading about issues with my thrive. It's slow and most apps give me problems. I've done a factory reset and then only installed a minimum amount of apps back on it, and it stills runs awful. I looked online and found this forum, and am now wondering if I should and could do a root. Its got Android version 4.0.4, and build number IMM76D.01.000072314 If there is a root for this and really good directions for this version can someone kindly point me in the right direction. I'm way confused on this, but I'm willing to learn to improve my tablets function. If not it's gonna go to one of my kids. Which really won't give me satisfaction, because then they will be gripping about it.

    Welcome!

Rooting is not a magic fix (as the OS is otherwise unchanged), but rooting, then installing an improved ROM, could be a major help.

There's a root tool, and the directions are about as good as they're going to get.
Hundreds (or thousands, we may never know) have used it.
Read it, memorize it, understand it, and do only and exactly what it says.
All should be well.... [Tool] DaleNet Thrive Univeral Easy Flash Tool

The thread will also contain a number of answers to some inevitable questions.
If you hit a snag, post back...

I would root without hesitation, which by itself doesn't do anything, but after the tool unlocks your bootloader and installs a custom recovery, you can install dalepl's version of ICS. It's much more stable than Toshiba's version.
