    Hi from Nigeria!

Hello everyone, my name is Ladun and like my title said i'm posting from Nigeria at the moment. I was born here but grew up in the U.S. (MI) and now that I'm done with college i'm back to complete a year-long program before heading back to the states.

Anyway that's a bit of my background. The reason I joined the forum instead of just browsing is because it seems like a friendly community where someone can ask questions without being made to feel inadequate. I'm toting a 10.1in 16GB Thrive that still runs on Honeycomb because my system is refusing to install the ICS upgrade. I'm starting to see this as a blessing in disguise however after reading all the complaints from people who have downloaded the new OS.

I've decided to skip the normal stuff and just root my tablet. Now i'm a complete noob at this, I've had my phone rooted and I love it but a friend of mine did the work. I would be forever grateful if someone could post a how-to link for a first timer on how to root my tablet with ICS (or Jelly Bean if its available). Hope to hear from you all soon and thanks in advance!

    Welcome!

Here's the best info and instructions you'll find:

[Tool] DaleNet Thrive Univeral Easy Flash Tool

    Use the above to root.

    Then rooted ICS is here:

[ROM] DaleNet IMM76D.01.000072314 Deodexed Stock Rooted ROM (US ICS 4.0.4)

JB is still a work in progress. Watch these forums for progress.

So I've started the rooting process but I've hit a snag. I've located the Flash Tool and it's asking me to select what I want to do but everytime I type in the # 1 and ENTER nothing happens. Same goes for 1,2,& 3 the Q button is working fine of course. Has this happened to anyone else before?

It sounds like tou unzipped all the files to your desktop. The files and folders must be in their own folder on your desktop.

You're right that was it! So i did the process and opened Superuser but there are 0 entries in the log, is that normal? I'm wondering if I should just go ahead and do recovery mode or should I unroot and start over again?

That is correct. You have not added any apps that Superuser will control as of yet. you need to follow the instructions on the OP for the tool and update the su binary. Once that is done, you will have full root access.
