Downloaded this and tried to install on my recently rooted THRiVE. Per the instructions, I made a backup of the original file and copied it to my SD card. I noticed that I could not delete the original file. I'm using Rhythm Software's File Manager. I can select the file, but the delete function was disabled.

I went ahead and did the ClockWorkMod install anyway. It ran as I expected and said it was successful. When the THRiVE rebooted, I checked the file in /system/etc and found that the date does not match the date in the zip file. Closer observation I see that the file is write-protected.

I don't see in my File Manager how to turn off write-protection for this file. I assume I need to do it to actually load this update.

No, the file should install because it is loaded with system set to R/W.

Flashing from recovery doesn't care if android has ro set on a file, it'll overwrite anything its told to regardless of what android says. One reason to be very careful with what you flash.

The date not matching is what is stored when recovery wrote it which isn't actual time, which is probably what you're seeing. I'm not sure what cwm is set for time and date wise, but twrp always says 10-08-2008 on files it writes. Yesterday.

Oh, the file manager needs root settings enabled and system partition set to r/w to delete with it in /system. Never used that manager so I can't help past that, sorry.
