Cool [Root Tool] DaleNet Thive 10.1" Easy Linux Flash Tool

Thrive 10.1" Easy Linux Flash Tool v1.0

Warning: DO NOT USE CLOCKWORKMOD RECOVERY TO PARTITION AND/OR FORMAT YOUR SD CARD. IT WILL BRICK YOUR DEVICE.

WARNING: This is for 0029 and 0032 only. This tool can be used to root the current 0032 load and unroot the 0029 load so you can load the 0032 update. Your WiFi will no longer work if you flash the wrong boot image with any system image, so if you have 0029 and want to root, you have to use the 0029 rooted boot image and if you have 0032 you have to use the 0032 rooted boot image.

    - INSTRUCTIONS -

    1. Unzip the file into a directory of your choice.
    2. Read the readme file.
    3. Open a Linux terminal screen.
    • To root the device, run the Linux shell script root.sht located in the thrive_easy_root_linux_v0.2-rc1 directory.
    • To unroot the device, run the Linux shell script unroot.sh located in the thrive_easy_root_linux_v0.2-rc1 directory. NOTE: If you are going to unroot your device to install an over-the-air update, be sure to undo any mods you have installed (ex. adhoc, NetFlix, etc).
    4. Follow the screen prompts. Enjoy.

Please note: If you are going to load the out of memory (OOM) optimized 0032 rooted boot image, it is not compatible with any of DJ_Steve's ROMs. If you are running one of DJ_Steve's ROMs, this boot image will probably break some functions that DJ_Steve had to make work from within the boot image. If you load one of DJ_Steve's ROMs after loading this boot image, then you will loose the optimazations since DJ_Steve's ROMs load thier own boot image.

NOTE: This is an early version and does not contain any error checking. Use this at your own risk. I am not responsible for any damage to your device due to the use of this shell script.

For those of you that give this a try, please let me know how it goes and give me any comments or suggestions to how it can be improved. This script will be used to create a Windows based One Click Root Tool and if anyone will volunteer, maybe a Mac version.
I might be willing to try this out with my Ubuntu set-up. Would this still work, even if I'm rooted? Like a "success" message, or something?

I checked it on mine and yes, it does say it is completed at the end. Since this is done in a terminal window, you see each of the steps, so you should see any errors. If anyone with a Linux load would like totry it out, then PM me. I only need it checked by a couple of people before I would feel comfertable posting it. I am also going to write an unroot script to go with it.

OK folks. I have posted the initial release of the rooting script. For any of you that are on some flavor of Unix, you can give this a try if you are already rooted. The only error you should get is "link failed file exists" because your busybox symbolic links should already be in place. Otherwise, you should go right through with no errors. For those of you that want to root --- ENJOY.
