Cool [ROM] DaleNet HTJ85B.03.5.0003 OOM Rooted ROM (Aussie HC 3.2.1)

Thrive HTJ85B.03.5.0003 OOM Rooted ROM - This is an Aussie based ROM

This release of DaleNet HTJ85B.03.5.0003 OOM Rooted ROM is basicaly a stock ROM, but I did add ClockWorkMod. The OOM mods frees up additional memory for the system to use by adjusting the memory threshholds used by the system for unloading unused applications. It also has a changed the priority for the launcher screen to give it more memory and make the scrolling of the screens a lot smoother. This also makes such applications as web browsers smoother scrolling. I moved many of the pre-installed apps from system to user installed. This allows you to remove the apps you do not want and keep the apps that you want to keep. I have added only minimal mods and will add more if there is enough interest in the mod. You can use Titanium Backup or any root enabled file manager to remove any of the pre-installed apps that I did not move to the user installed area.

    - INSTRUCTIONS -

NOTE: Please do a complete system backup before installing this ROM. If you have a problem when loading, you will then be able to restore your device to the way it was before you attempted to install this ROM. Thank you.

WARNING: This WILL delete all user data and apps. It resets the device to out of the box state.

To install this ROM, do the following:

You will need to have ClockWorkMod Recovery flashed to your device. I recommend that you do NOT let Google restore your apps during the initial setup process. The Google Market still has issues with not installing apps when it gets a request for multiple app installs. After getting the device setup, you can use the market to install your apps, but do it one app at a time.
    1. Power down your device.
    2. Boot the device into ClockWorkMod Recovery.
    3. Select APPLY UPDATE FROM SDCARD.
    4. Select EXTERNAL SD CARD.
    5. Select YES - INSTALL /SDCARD-EXT/UPDATE.ZIP.
    6. Watch the ROM install on your device.
    7. When completed, select REBOOT SYSTEM NOW.
    8. Once the device boots up, go through the initial setup. I recommend that you do NOT let Google restore your apps, so unselect this option during setup.
    9. Once you have completed initial setup and verified the device is operating correctly, you need to verify superuser operation by doing the following:
      • On the main screen, select APPS.
      • On the applications screen, select Superuser. It will give you the version info. Close this and you will see a log.
      • From the Superuser log screen, select the wrench in the upper right corner. This will open the properties view.
      • On the properties screen, scroll down to SUPERUSER INFO. It should say "Superuser (version number)" and "Su binary (version number)". Tap on "Su binary (version number)". This will open the updater screen and should say "CURRENT VERSION ALREADY INSTALLED. NO ACTION REQUIRED." at the top.
      • Click on UPDATE ANYWAY at the bottom.
      • If you get no failures, then you have superuser access on your device and all is good.
      • If you have a failure, try rooting your device with the rooter file and then reverify superuser access.
    10. After ensuring you have superuser access, use Titanium Backup to restore your apps or use the Market to reload your apps (one at a time).
    11. Enjoy the ROM.

I installed this rom but for some reason I could not set up gmail and access the Market. So I reverted back to the original rom. May give it another go later. I did clear all caches, dalvik etc before install so not sure what problem is.

What do you mean you could not setup GMail? The ROM will wipe your device, so no need to clear anything before loading. It should startup with the device setup wizard. Please let me know what it was doing. Also, if you reload it, let me know if you have any issues so I can check it out.

Hi, I was unable to connect to the "Market", it would not let me sign in with my gmail account. Tried number of times but it just times out. But through the web browser I was able to get onto my gmail account, so I know the internet connection works OK.

Before I did a restore I did go in and clear all data and caches and see if that would clear the problem but then came up with "force closure" when the device setup wizard kicked in. Thats when decided to go back and do a restore.

I will try it out, but I tested it before posting. Worked fine for me. Did you setup your Google Account during the setup?

Couldnt setup my Google account during setup as the internet service here in Kokopo was down so I skipped on that step - in fact lately the internet has been down more often than working. One of the problems about working in a place like PNG. When I do it again I'll make sure that internet is working when I do the ROM install.

I just loaded the ROM and had no issues at all. I was able to load my Google account just fine. The only thing I could recommend is to turn security off on your network and see if you are able to log in. If so, then there is an issue with the settings in your router that is blocking Google. Probably a port that is blocked.

OK thanks. I'll give it another go. I presume there are no issues if I decide to give the USA ROM a go?

I notice the USA ROM is around 392MB and the Aust one is 238MB, guess its just the extra apps and things loaded in the USA one.
